Egg Exploration

We have been busy exploring the fascinating world of eggs. Yesterday we compared two eggs in an "Egg Exploration." We were trying to figure out which egg was raw and which egg was hard boiled. We examined, shook, rolled, spun and smelled the different eggs. In the end we cracked the egg we thought was hard boiled into a bowl. Which egg did you crack open? Were you surprised?

Norooz

Today we learned about the Persian New Year, Norooz. Norooz is celebrated on the first day of Spring. Norooz begins with the cleaning of the house(Khaane Tekaani), buying new clothes, and growing green grass(Sabze). For the actual Saal Tahvil, they put seven items on the table-linen that all start with "S". This is called "Haft Seen". These seven things are: Seeb(apple), Sabze(green grass), Serke(vinager), Samanoo(a meal made out of wheat), Senjed(a special kind of berry), Sekke(coin), and Seer(garlic). Sometimes instead of Serke they put Somagh(sumak, an Iranian spice).

At our celebration today we celebrated by eating yummy pastries and fruit.

Those pesky leprechauns!

We tried to catch them but those tricky leprechauns were very sneaky. They did leave some clever and tasty treats though.

Just a reminder- We still need empty toilet paper rolls for an art project.

Also I updated Spelling City for spelling words and Quia for our most recent sight words (theme 7).

Also remember that we have P.E. on Monday, please wear appropriate foot wear.
