Whew, I made it! Today was my last day of the February fitness challenge. For the past 28 days I set my personal goal to swim everyday, and complete 60,000 meters total. I can happily say that I my did it: 28 days, 70,000 meters even. I admit some days I did not want to swim, I would have much rather stayed home and watched T.V. or read a book, but that is the thing with challenges - they are a test to see what you are able to do.
At school I see boys and girls challenge themselves all the time. In Room 125 we just started adding three numbers together, and for some students that is a big challenge. For others, writing more than one sentence in our journal is a challenge. But each week I see more and more students write longer and longer journal entries. Some people at our school are challenging the old hula hooping records, or jump roping records.
It's fun and exciting to see what you can do, if you challenge yourself.
Have you ever challenged yourself?
What is your biggest challenge?
Congratulations to Mrs. Levy for exceeding her goal and swimming 10,000 meters more than the challenge set forth. For me, seventeen weeks ago I began a twenty-seven week training program to get ready to compete in the St. George Ironman. An Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run. I train six days a week and complete two events per day...a swim and a run, a run and a bike, or a swim and a bike. On May 7th all my training will pay off and I will compete in the race. This is one of the biggest challenges of my life and as hard as the training can be, I am truly loving the challenge. ReplyDeleteI challenged myself when I chose to take on teaching myself how to play the guitar. I had always wanted to learn and finally decided to teach myself how to play. My biggest challenge is working for playing time on the volleyball team.
ReplyDeleteI have challenged myself in many different aspects. One example is when I learned how to ride a bike when I was young. My biggest challenge right now is to get good grades.
ReplyDeleteI constantly challenge myself to get good grades. However I think my biggest challenge was trying to drop a second off my 50 freestyle race in swimming. I continually received around 29.6 seconds, but I am proud to say that time has been lowered to a 28.4!
ReplyDeleteI challenge myself every day at swim practice. I swim at on a club team and love it. My biggest challenge is pushing myself to go to swim everyday and stick with swimming even when it is rough.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mrs Levy! I challenge myself by doing some sort of exercise even when I feel very tired! It's so important to stay active!Sandra Perel
ReplyDeleteI challenge myself playing soccer!Gia Perel
I challenge myself right now to constantly improve in baseball. Even though some days I am tired and do not want to practice, I push myself and always try my best. The biggest challenge that I face is trying to maintain a balanced life: get good grades, hang out with friends, and play baseball. Sometimes, it is very difficult to balance each aspect and prioritize, but I challenge myself and I make sure to keep a balanced life.
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited for this spring because I'm going to challenge myself to be the best baseball player I can be. I really want to get a starting spot on my baseball team, so I'm going to stay after practice, work out at home, and have confidence that I will be a starting right fielder by the end of this baseball season. It is going to take a lot of work, and I'm ready!
ReplyDeleteMy new challenge for myself is to work out everyday so I can get my 400 meter from a 58 second to 54 second or lower. I challenged myself at my first track meet every on Thursday, and ending up taking the best 400 time for Calabasas and placing in all my events including the 200 meter dash and the varsity 400 meter relay. But placing isn't good enough for me, I'm also challenges myself to win every race I'm in and hopefully get a scholarship.
ReplyDeleteI have challenged myself in many ways including learning to play piano and speak hebrew, and trying my hardest in school. Most recently, I challenged myself to fix an issue i had with some technology at home, and after A LOT of hard work (about 7-8 hours within a single 24 hour period) I finally succeeded. Despite all this, the biggest and most important challenge that I currently (or ever wil) face is attempting to be the best person that I can be.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest challenge was learning to play handball. I had to practice a lot at school and at home and now I know how to play.

Right now I am constantly improving and challenging myself to become better in Soccer. Since I want to continue to play for Calabasas in soccer, I need to keep practicing and never give up. It will take some work on my behalf but I know that I can achieve my goals.
ReplyDeleteWow, what great comments. I love reading about your challenges. Keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I a, challenging myself to get better grades in geometry. Math has always been a very difficult subject for me, and I am striving to do my best
ReplyDeleteI challenge myself every day at school. I focus on getting good grades and playing a high level of tennis on my varsity team. My biggest challenge is playing great tennis while getting A's in school. Sometimes I get really stressed out because there is too much homework or practice lasts too long, but I push myself to overcome those challenges. In the end, that is what makes me improve and succeed in life.
ReplyDeleteI am currently challenging myself to take a psychology class at the Pierce campus. It is a very challenging class that I have trouble keeping up in. I go every wednesday from 6-10. It is very difficult to dedicate a lot of my time in that class, but I believe I can do it . On top of that, I challenge myself daily to get good grades. And for the next month I will be challenging myself to improve and practice more piano before my recital. But I believe challenging myself is a good thing because it helps me succeed in whatever I set my mind to.
ReplyDeleteRight now, my challenge is to do better in math, last semester was tough for me, and I want to make sure I get off to a good start to the new semester! I am working to do my best!
ReplyDeleteI have challenged myself to get good grades in school and to try my best in all my classes. I also take after school SAT classes at my tutoring center three times a week which takes up a lot of my time but I challenge myself to work hard and stay focused. I try to push myself to the best of my ability and get good grades. I am also challenging myself to work harder in algebra 2 because I think it is a very difficult class and I would like to improve my grade while understand the material very well.
ReplyDeleteI challenge myself all the time. Whether it's at school, home, or playing on my lacrosse team, I always strive to be the best that I can possibly be. But, my biggest challenge as of right now, is to get great grades so that one day I can attend Duke University.

ReplyDeleteI always try to challenge myself to do better than my best in everything that I do. I challenge myself to get A's in all my classes. Sometimes it is difficult to get myself to do the work or study, but I eventually get myself to do what I have to do.
ReplyDeleteI challenge my self in various ways such as in soccer. This high school season, especially, I had to challenge myself to play well even though our team had such a terrible reputation for not winning. It was difficult to pick my head up after the goals the other team scored against us and to think about how people at school would laugh at the fact that we had lost yet again. But, I loved soccer and I didn't care what others thought, I still played my hardest despite the outcome.
ReplyDeleteI challenge myself all the time. One of my biggest challenges was pushing myself to the end of the LA Marathon in sixth grade with my mom. It was so hard to get through that, but when I was finished, I felt so accomplished. Another one of my biggest challenges was getting myself up the switch-backs and to the top of Mount Whitney the first time I hiked it. I was really light-headed from the altitude and thought I would not make it, but I pushed through. When I was sitting on the top of the mountain, I knew every bit of the challenging parts were worth it.

I have challenged myself in many ways including taking online college classes which my sister encouraged me to do, and helped me a lot with. I know that it is be hard and difficult but I will appreciate it when i go to college and my work load isnt as heavy as it would have been if I hadnt taken these classes. :D
ReplyDeleteDear Mrs. Levy,
ReplyDeleteMy biggest challenge is becoming a black belt in karate. My sister also challenges herself to swim, just like you!
