Thanksgiving traditions

At this time of year, people look forward to certain family traditions. A tradition is “the process of handing down a belief or custom from one generation to the next.”

Today in class we were talking about our Thanksgiving Traditions.  Some people go to their grandma's house and eat turkey dinner with their family.  Some friends in class eat special food from the countries their family came from.  In my family, Mr. Levy (who is a wonderful cook) prepares the big feast.  Then we all sit down at the table together to eat turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and salad.

What is your Thanksgiving tradition?

What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?

  1. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Getting together with family and friends to give thanks for everything that we have is a wonderful tradition. We spend the holiday with friends who are like family to us. All of the many different side dishes are my favorite part of the meal. I love finding new recipes and preparing vegetables in new ways. At Thanksgiving I am thankful for all the wonderful friends that we have.

  7. Every year for Thanksgiving, my dad takes me to go shoot my own turkey (Just kidding). We gather with my mom's side of the family and spend the day together playing sports and catching up. My favorite Thanksgiving food is pumpkin bread, which I bake with my mom every year from a recipe we received in my third grade year at Chaparral.

  8. Every Thanksgiving, my family comes to my house for a big feast. All of my relatives from my mother's and my father's side meet in my dining room. My day is filled with all of my family's hands on deck. We cook turkey, cranberry sauce, latkes, and many more yummy treats, all made from scratch. My favorite is the delicious pumpkin pie. I could eat an entire pie if I wanted. At the end of the day, I go to sleep with a content stomach.

  9. My house never spends Thanksgiving alone. Whether we come to them or they come to us, we are spending at least a week with family. I have 9 cousins just on one side of my family, and i'm 1 out the 2 girls! But either way, we have so much fun together. This year, we are going to Magic Mountain and having a big feast! My favorite thing to eat during Thanksgiving (which i could eat any other day of the year) is pumpkin pie. Yum!

  13. We have the same routine for Thanksgiving every year. We go to our family friends's house and have a huge feast with family and family friends. But this year we decided to switch it up by bringing the holiday and feast to the Jones resident, that being my house. On Thanksgiving the beast meal to have with friends and family is sweet potato with marshmallow. It's incredible!

  17. For Thanksgiving, my family hosts the celebration each year. We have up to twenty family members all come together to eat my dad's turkey and my mom's butternut squash soup. Since I am a vegetarian and don't eat turkey, my favorite thanksgiving food would definitely have to be the soup my mom makes from scratch.

  22. Mrs. Levy,
My favorite Thanksgiving food is pie with whipped cream on it. My mom puts the whipped cream on it. She makes it from scratch. This is how she makes it. First, she mixes cream with a little powdered sugar and vanilla. Then, we put it in a special tool that turns it into whipped cream when you push a button. It is so good when she puts it on the pie when we eat it.

I am going to my Grammy and Pop's house and they are dog sitting my cousin's dog named Stella. I can't wait to see my cousin's dog and play with her. She is so cute.

It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful Thanksgiving! It's a bonus that you will get to be with Grammy and Pop and play with Stella, too.

Your Mom's whipped cream sounds delicious. Your Mom is a very good cook!

One of my favorite Thanksgiving foods in cranberry sauce and Pumpkin pie. Sometime I would like to taste your Mom's whipped cream on pumpkin pie.

Do you think you will take Stella for a walk?
