Thanksgiving Traditions

At this time of year, people look forward to certain family traditions. A tradition is “the process of handing down a belief or custom from one generation to the next.” 

Today in class we were talking about our Thanksgiving Traditions.  Some people go to their grandma's house and eat turkey dinner with their family.  Some friends in class eat special food from the countries their family came from.  In my family, my husband and sister-in-law cook the turkey together and then we all sit down at the table together to eat turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and salad.

    My family tradition for Thanksgiving is to go to my uncle's house. There are lots of people at his house. My favorite food is the turkey and the mashed potatoes. I also like playing with my sister and my cousins.

    Our family tradition for Thanksgiving is to go to my Nana and Papa's house and have a big Turkey Dinner with my family. I also get to play with my brothers and my cousins.

    Our family tradition is to spend the holiday with our friends in Dana Point. My girlfriend and I spend all day Wednesday preparing the side dishes for Thursday's dinner. On Thanksgiving morning we all run the Dana Point Turkey Trot 10K and then head to her brother's house for a delicious meal. I like all the food on the Thanksgiving table, especially the cranberry sauce. The day is filled with family, friends, food, and love. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!

    What an amazing post! My name is Peter, and I am from Mrs. Yollis' third grade class. I love traditions, and a favorite tradition of mine is a friendly football game. It is called the Turkey Bowl. For those of you who know of football, you may know the Super Bowl. It's kind of like that, but it is called the Turkey Bowl .

      I do not really know who is going to play at the Turkey Bowl. We invite our neighbors and friends. I do enjoy Thanksgiving, but if I had to choose one holiday over Thanksgiving, I'd choose Christmas.

    Both of us have the same Thanksgiving traditions. We invite our grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and sometimes friends to the meal. Turkey is served on Thanksgiving.

    My Thanksgiving tradition is too invite all of my family's relatives and close friends to our house. We prepare a big turkey my favorite Thanksgiving food and serve it with mashed potatoes and gravy. It is delicious.

    Our family tradition for Thanksgiving is to visit my cousins, aunt, and uncle! It is fun spending time with them, and the food is always amazing. My favorite part of the meal is probably the turkey and the green bean casserole.

    My favorite family tradition for Thanksgiving is spending time with my family and cooking dinner with my mom. I love having one dinner where we can all relax and have a great time! The food Thanksgiving is probably one of my favorite parts. I personally love either the turkey or the stuffing. Mmmmmmm :)

    Thanksgiving is the most cherished holiday in the Bamford household. We love coming together and being thankful for everything that we have. Each day in November until Thanksgiving, we discuss during "Family Talk" what we are most thankful for that day. On Thanksgiving day, the Bamford ladies all gather in the kitchen and cook a healthy Thanksgiving feast.

    Kate's favorite food is Red Potatoes.

    My Thanksgiving tradition is that my dad and all of his friends and all of their kids get together the day before Thanksgiving and we have a football game called the "Turkey Bowl" and we then go eat breakfast afterward. My favorite Thanksgiving food is the mashed potatoes because you can always make it taste how you want it to by adding toppings.

    For Thanksgiving my whole family including my Aunts Uncles and Grandparents fly out here to California. We all meet at my Aunt Lee's house and have Thanksgiving together. We each bring one dish to eat like Turkey, cheesy brocoli, sweet potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie, french bread, cranberry sauce, and juice. My favorite food is deffinately the pumpkin pie

    On Thanksgiving, my family usually invites family members over to a Thanksgiving party at our house, where we all enjoy the wonderful food prepared by my mom and aunt. My favorite Thanksgiving food is homemade pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream.

    For Thanksgiving, my whole extended family goes to my Uncle Bob's house for a potluck where everyone brings a dish. My favorite thing to eat is my mom's mashed potatoes. She uses an old southern recipe passed down from my great grandma.

    For Thanksgiving my family gets together and either goes somewhere or we eat at someone's house. This year though, instead of what we normal do we are going down to Huntington beach and we are having a big get together where we will get to meet distant and out of state relatives.     On Thanksgiving all the Richmonds scurry to the elder's house to gorge on turkey, mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing, and pie. It is a Richmond tradition that after every thanksgiving we all gather 'round the fireplace and groan uncomfortably from overeating. After multiple trips to the bathroom everyone says their goodbyes and awaits the Christmas day feast. Happy Holidays.

    My Thanksgiving tradition is usually to either go to Yosemite, or visit family members. We all help each other to make a big Thanksgiving meal including yams, mashed potatoes, a turkey, a whole bunch of other foods we regret eating so much of later. My favorite is candied yams though.
